Freida - Walter Bohn House
Constructed: 1924
Address: 906 W. 17th Street
Architect Hugo Kuehne designed the house for Freida and Walter Bohn, whose address first appears in the 1929 City Directory. Kuehne, a native Austinite, earned engineering and architecture degrees from UT and MIT before returning to Austin to establish UT’s School of Architecture. He served as an adjunct professor, founded the architecture library, and helped shape both the Enfield suburb and Austin’s first master plan in 1928. Notable works by Kuehne include the Old Austin Library (now the Austin History Center) and The Tavern at Lamar and 15th.
