Millican House
Constructed: 1908
Address: 1610 West Avenue
Oliver H. Millican purchased the lot at 1604 West Avenue in 1908 and built a two-story frame home with a rear duplex, where he and his wife Alhalie lived until his death in 1930. Millican was a prominent figure in Austin's insurance and real estate sectors, held leadership roles in several banks, and was active in civic organizations like the Austin Automobile Club. The property was later owned by Belle S. and George E. Bryson from 1933 to 1945; Bryson worked as a cotton buyer. The lot’s earliest known purchase dates back to 1852, when it was sold by Samuel G. Haynie to E.S.C. Robertson.
