Oscar & Floy Robinson House

Constructed: 1923

Address: 1711 San Gabriel Street

Built around 1923 for Oscar Robinson, the house was occupied by his family for 50 years before being sold to William and Norma Lynch in 1971, then to Suzanne and Kirby Cannon in 1979. The lot was previously owned by Mrs. S. M. Robertson, and the Robinsons maintained a famous flower garden with roses and caladiums. Oscar Robinson, a UT attendee and successful cotton oil businessman, owned multiple mills and was recognized for his expertise in market analysis and product distribution. His family had deep roots in Austin’s mercantile and ranching history, with a notable story of his grandfather’s early business ties to Col. E.M. House’s family.
